On this guided-tour from Paracas, we’ll take you down to the city of the eternal sunshine to discover the traditional sites of Ica and its surroundings, such as the plaza de Armas and its colonial architecture, to taste delicious tejas and chocotejas (traditional deserts); visit the new temple of the Lord of Luren; and get a tasting of wines and piscos made from Ica grapes, where exquisite liquors are produced with a unique tradition.

Itinerary

  • 12:00 pm: Pick-up from selected hotel in Ica.
  • 1:30 pm: Arrival at Cultur, an artisanal winery producing exquisite pisco wines and other grape-based liquors with deep local tradition. Free time for lunch at a recommended nearby restaurant.
  • 3:30 pm: Visit to Ica main square, which preserves its original surroundings, and the renewed Luren Church rebuilt after the 2007 earthquake.
  • 3:50 pm: Visit to a local store to taste traditional desserts such as tejas and chocotejas.
  • 4:30 pm: Arrival at Huacachina and guided visit around its beautiful lagoon surrounded by palm trees and high sand dunes.
  • 5:00 pm: 4×4 buggy ride across the sand dunes and amateur sandboarding experience while enjoying an incredible desert sunset.
  • 6:30 pm: Return to the meeting point in Huacachina and drive back to Paracas.
  • 8:00 pm: Drop-off at selected hotel in Paracas.

Important Information

  • Distance from Paracas to Ica is 70 km (42 miles).
  • Sunblock, sunglasses, mosquito repellent, and light clothing are necessary for the Ica city tour.
  • Average temperature in Ica is 28°C (75°F); however, it can get chilly and windy over the Huacachina sand dunes when the sun begins to set.
  • Ica city tour from Paracas lasts approximately 8 hours.
