The Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children and Adolescents Against Sexual Exploitation in Tourism and Travel (ESNNA Code) is an initiative that promotes the commitment of the tourism sector to prevent and combat the commercial sexual exploitation of minors, especially in contexts where tourism may be a risk factor.

This code has been adopted in Peru and many other countries as part of corporate social responsibility policies in tourism, aligning with human rights and the Sustainable Development Goals.

What does it mean for tourism companies?

Adhering to the ESNNA Code means that a tourism company commits to:

Adopting contractual clauses that reject such practices in their commercial relationships.

Why is it important?

Tourism should be a tool for development and inclusion, not a channel for the violation of rights. The ESNNA Code aims for tourism stakeholders – agencies, hotels, guides, transporters, etc. – to be allies in the protection of children and adolescents, becoming vigilant and responsible agents in their environments.

Who promotes it?

In Peru, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) together with the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP) lead its implementation, in coordination with organizations such as CHS Alternativo, UNICEF, and ECPAT at the international level.
